Beverly Hills Rhinoplasty

Rhinoplasty is a reconstructive cosmetic procedure which a plastic surgeon to enhance the aesthetic look of a person wanting to improve their looks. Generally people looking for Rhinoplasty surgery are looking to straighten their nose, a smaller nose etc… this is often referred to as a “nose job” or “nose reshaping”.

A rhinoplasty examination is usually broken down into three parts, the upper portion of the nose, the middle portion of the nose and the lower portion of the nose.

The upper portion of the nose contains the nasal bridge which contains the nasal bones, in order to thin or reshape the nasal bride the nasal bones will need to be broken to reset the bone structure this procedure is known as an osteotomy. Sometimes people are born with bumps on their nose or if the nose gets broken and doesn’t heal properly a bump on the nose sometimes forms, an osteotomy procedure is often used to break the nasal bones and reshape the nose to remove the bump.

The lower portion of the nose can also be reshaped. If a patient wants a more narrow and thin nose tip, cartilage is removed. If the tip of the nose is too small the plastic surgeon will add cartilage to the tip of the nose. If the base is too wide then skin is removed from the nostril.

After the surgery a splint is placed in the nose and left there for about a week. In some cases the plastic surgeon may decide to use nasal packing which can usually be removed by your plastic surgeon in 1 or 2 days.

Most Rhinoplasty operations take one to two hours; this is a serious procedure that permanently reshapes the patient’s nose so you have to make sure this is what you want before proceeding.
